Located 10 miles from downtown Charleston, South Carolina, on approximately 3,400 acres of land within the North Charleston city limits, Charleston AFB is home to the 628th Air Base Wing. This wing has two operational groups consisting of 13 squadrons and one wing staff directorate. It also hosts the 437th Airlift Wing, the 315th Airlift Wing (Air Force Reserve) and 17 tenants.
